Lightspeed Parent Portal
With so many new technologies and learning methods introduced every day, your involvement in your child’s learning is more important than ever. To support this, Alderman White School has partnered with Lightspeed Systems to give you visibility and control of your child’s internet usage while on school-issued Chromebooks, when not on the school network.
The Lightspeed Parent Portal gives you access to:
- The Weekly Student Online Activity Report. This report summarises your child’s web browsing activity for the week. A copy of this report is sent to your email weekly.
- The full web-based Lightspeed Parent Portal which delivers in-depth visibility and control over your child’s online activity. You can know exactly when and what sites your child accesses in real time; pause the internet and control YouTube and social media access as needed.
How Lightspeed Captures Your Child’s Internet Activity
Devices provided by us are filtered by Lightspeed, which intercepts network traffic to allow or block websites. These decisions are made based on both the content filter category of the website and the rules configured for your child. When off the school network (whilst the Chromebook is still managed by the school), we still block all mature, indecent and violence categories - although filtering is more relaxed then when at school. An example being that games are not blocked when at home.
The Weekly Student Online Activity Report
The Weekly Student Online Activity Report summarises your child’s web browsing activity for the week; including page visits and website host metrics.
What's Included:
- Top Websites: Top 10 visited hosts
- Daily Website Visits: Number of pages visited per day
- Total Browsed Hosts
- Average Daily Page Visits
The Weekly Student Online Activity Report will be emailed straight to your inbox every Sunday containing the Subject: Filter Portal Weekly Report and sent from: do_not_reply@lightspeedsystems.com.

The Lightspeed Parent Portal is a full web-based portal that is mobile responsive, so you can easily check on your child’s internet activity in real time and take action.
How to Enrol
Lightspeed Parent Portal access is provided on an opt-in basis. For access please complete the following form.

We aim to verify your details and register you within 10 school days of your application.
Web Activity
This view provides detailed student internet activity on all sites visited after school, including a time stamp for all sites accessed, ensuring they’re safe and focused on learning.
Parent Controls Outside of School
Lightspeed allows you to pause web browsing and manage YouTube / Social Media access, when your school-purchased Chromebook is not on the school network. Learn more about each of these controls below.
Pause Web Browsing
Control your child’s screen time to temporarily pause web browsing on school-purchased Chromebooks when not on the school network for 1 hour, 3 hours, or overnight.
Manage YouTube and Social Media Access
YouTube includes rich educational content and also a lot of distractions. Your child may be spend too much time on this platform (rather than getting their homework done.!). With the Lightspeed Parent Portal, you can allow or block access to YouTube and social media when not on the school network as needed.
